Saudi Arabia Enables Online Passport Updates for Expats via Absher
Expats can now update renewed passport info online via employer Absher accounts without visiting Jawazat offices.

Saudi Arabia has launched a new service allowing expatriates to update their passport information online through the Absher platform, eliminating the need to visit the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in person.
The service, introduced as part of the Kingdom’s broader digital transformation efforts, is available to expatriates aged 18 and above who have recently renewed their passports. The update can be completed using the employer’s Absher Business account.
To use the service, several conditions must be met: the previous passport must not be reported lost, the resident must not have an active "absent from work" report, and there should be no unresolved traffic violations tied to the individual's residency (iqama). In addition, both the employee and employer must be free of any security restrictions.
The fee for the service is SAR 69, inclusive of VAT. The feature is part of ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Interior and Jawazat to digitalise resident services and reduce reliance on physical office visits, in line with Saudi Vision 2030’s commitment to enhancing public sector efficiency.
As of 2025, the Absher platform supports more than 300 digital services for Saudi citizens, residents, and businesses.
