Soolking Blends Global Sounds on ‘Africa Jungle Part.1’

Algerian artist Soolking, formerly known as MC Sool, has released his fourth full-length album, ‘Africa Jungle Part 1’, further refining his signature blend of reggae, soul, hip-hop, and rai influences. As the title suggests, the album incorporates elements of African music, weaving them into a broader sonic landscape that fuses contemporary global sounds with traditional influences.

With 13 tracks spanning 37 minutes, the album is structured more like a collection of individual singles than a cohesive narrative project, allowing each track to stand on its own. The project is rich in collaborations, featuring artists such as GIMS on 'Carré Ok', Ghali on 'Abracadabra', Niro on 'Heat' and French heavyweight SDM on 'Only You', with a nostalgic nod on 'Koula Youm' which samples Fairuz. These features and sampling choices introduce diverse stylistic elements that complement Soolking’s fluid approach to genre-blending.

The album also includes 'Casanova', Soolking’s collaboration with Gazo, which has gained significant traction since its release two years ago, accumulating over 250 million streams.

With its mix of established hits and new material, ‘African Jungle Part 1’ highlights Soolking’s ability to bridge different musical traditions while maintaining a commercially viable sound. The collaborations and production choices underscore his continued relevance in the North African and broader Francophone music scenes.
