WORD | Misty, Dish Dash & Ebla - Aywa Aywa
Syrian artist Ebla unpacks the inspiration behind ‘Aywa Aywa’

In this episode of WORD, Syrian singer-songwriter Ebla dissects the underlying meaning behind ‘Aywa Aywa, her joint track with Egyptian house maestro Misty and the Saudi trailblazing duo Dish Dash.
She shares how she initially wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals of the song for her album ‘Mo Makani’, drawing inspiration from the secret raves in the Syrian underground scene amidst the war. The track touches on themes of defiance and hope, highlighting moments when the dancefloor becomes an act of resilience and perseverance of clubbing culture in a dystopian reality. “I remember very well that those spaces used to be our safe spaces, where we used to allow ourselves to be light and happy in a very dark reality,” Ebla tells SceneNoise.
Pinned by Ebla and co-produced by Misty and Dish Dash, ‘Aywa Aywa’ is a buoyant house burner that evokes the peak-time momentum of the dancefloor, carried out by Ebla’s playful flamenco flair and contagious bubbly energy. The track marks the debut release of Dish Dash’s newly-launched label, IN ACT.
