The Designer’s Work In Three Words: Artst, Edgy, and Layered.
About the Designer: Born in Saudi Arabia, Maha Khalid’s love for fashion ignited in her childhood, inspired by watching glamorous fashion shows on TV with her cousins. Frustrated by the lack of options that fit her personal style, she began customising clothes to suit her taste. The constant inquiries about her unique outfits led her to launch her own brand in September 2020, Ninemkay, a play on her initials ‘MK’ with Khalid’s ‘lucky number 9’ at the forefront. A self-taught fashion designer, Khalid now shares her personal design vision through her label.
The Muse: “My inspiration comes from various sources, including art, music, and the everyday objects around me. I believe even the simplest things can hold deeper meaning.” Ninemkay founder Maha Khalid shares with SceneStyled.
The Designs Through Founder Maha Khalid’s Lens: “It’s all about cut, quality, and detail.”
Scene Styled Picks: The Denim Set
Ninemkay's denim set features a crop top with a diagonal neckline and asymmetrical straps, paired with high-waisted, wide-leg trousers. We particularly enjoy this statement for its subtle yet playful design that’s sure to have people asking, "Where did you get that?"
The Designer Picks:
“This black dress is my favourite; it’s simply stunning.”
Minimal in colour, but playful in silhouette, Ninemkay’s classic black dress is thoughtfully layered for a look that is both casual and classic, perfect for that weekly post-work dinner with friends.
The Verdict:
Ninemkay's designs redefine streetwear with a literal edge, striking an interesting balance between classic style and a casual, edgy vibe, fit for those seeking a statement piece that does not overpower.
