The Saudi Fashion Commission has just announced that fashion designer Tima Abid will be the opening show for the first edition of Red Sea Fashion Week, which is set to take place from May 16th to May 18th.

The event’s location at the St. Regis Red Sea Resort on Ummahat Island perfectly encapsulates the ethos of the event with its balance of luxury, exclusivity and stunning natural views. Expect to see jewellery displays set against shining turquoise waters and couture gowns on rippling sand as more than 100 local and international designers feature collections riddled with high-fashion statement pieces and luxury resort wear.

With a career spanning back to 2003, Abid's haute couture collections uniquely celebrate her Saudi Arabian heritage, blending contemporary design with cultural influences. Having debuted at Paris Haute Couture in 2020, Abid now returns to her roots, bringing her renowned craftsmanship and Arabian aesthetic to dazzle audiences at Red Sea Fashion Week 2024.

The event will work towards spotlighting Saudi Arabia’s fashion evolution which ties heritage with contemporary design. Coming after Riyadh Fashion Week, this show will provide another platform for Saudi craftsmanship and creativity to flourish amidst the boom of fashion design in the region.
