3.9 Million Tourists Visit Egypt in First Quarter of 2025

Egypt welcomed 3.9 million tourists in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 25% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The growth follows a steady upward trend, with 15.7 million tourist arrivals recorded in 2024—a 5% rise from 2023. Tourism revenues reached nearly USD 16 billion in 2024, underlining the sector's expanding role in the national economy.

In response to the growing influx of visitors, Egypt plans to add 18,000 hotel rooms by the end of 2025. The country’s current hotel capacity is approximately 230,000 rooms, and officials are targeting the construction of over 200,000 additional rooms over the next three to four years to meet projected demand. A new promotional campaign has also been launched, focusing on eight European markets, as part of broader efforts to sustain momentum in the sector.

Tourist numbers are expected to increase by a further 8% by the end of 2025. Looking ahead, Egypt has set a long-term goal of attracting 30 million tourists annually and boosting tourism revenues to USD 24 billion by 2030.
