Kuwaiti Sibling Duo Sons of Yusuf Drop New Feel-Good Music Video and Single ‘Mashallah’ from Quarantine
The new up-beat music video and single projects gratitude and joy in the midst of an otherwise negative global environment.
Kuwaiti LA-based hip-hop sibling duo Abdul Rahman and Yaakoub El-Refa’I aka Sons of Yusuf, have just released a new single and music video Mashallah. It was produced by LA-based jazz producer Terrace Martin and features grammy-award winning American singer and producer Muhsinah. The track explores a certain appreciation for a multitude of blessings maintaining a repetition of the phrase “Mashallah” throughout.

Besides the little things in life, the video boasts luxurious imagery with the grandness of the house overlooking a beautiful sea – calling into question how ‘relatable’ these blessings actually are. The video maintains an up-tempo jazz-infused beat throughout, owing to Martin’s musical background – the producer has previously worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Herbie Hancock. The track is complemented by Muhsinah’s (who Facetimes in, in perfect Quarantine fashion) velvety, delicate vocal – the rich texture adding a further element of spirituality to the song.
