Egypt to Receive USD 1.2B IMF Loan Tranche After Fourth Review
The IMF’s Executive Board has approved the disbursement, though the exact timing of the transfer has not yet been disclosed.

Egypt is set to receive a USD 1.2 billion loan tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) following the completion of the fourth review of its financing program.
The IMF’s Executive Board has approved the disbursement, though the exact timing of the transfer has not yet been disclosed. The announcement was made during a ceremony for the Egyptian Tax Authority.
The approval follows a staff-level agreement reached in December 2024, which paved the way for the release of the funds. Egypt has already received USD 1.98 billion under the first three reviews of the IMF loan program. The original agreement, signed in November 2022, initially provided for a USD 3 billion loan. In March 2024, the total package was expanded to USD 8 billion to support the country’s economic reform efforts.
