Sharjah to Build 1.6 KM Rubber Walkway in Khorfakkan
The walkway, part of Al Bardi 6’s road development, is hoped to enhance safety and support Khorfakkan’s growth.

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced a new project to construct a 1.6 kilometre rubber walkway in Khorfakkan, under the guidance of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. This initiative is part of a broader strategy aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and enhancing infrastructure in residential areas, particularly in the Eastern Region.
The walkway, which will have an average width of 4 metres, will extend around Khorfakkan Hospital and pass through Al Bardi 6, serving both residents and hospital visitors. Designed for walking and jogging, it will provide a safe and comfortable environment for users. High-quality materials will be used to ensure comfort, and approximately 5,000 square metres of green space will be landscaped with ornamental plants.
In collaboration with Khorfakkan Municipality and the Public Works Department, the project is part of an effort to improve life quality in residential areas by offering dedicated infrastructure for pedestrians and athletes. It also reflects the commitment of local authorities to implement the directives of the leadership.
The walkway is a key component of the internal road development in Al Bardi 6, which includes new pedestrian crossings to improve traffic safety and accommodate Khorfakkan’s urban growth. This project supports Sharjah's broader urban development plans and is expected to be completed soon, in line with SRTA’s strategy to deliver sustainable, people-focused projects that enhance services and support the city’s vision for health and smart living.
