Saharty Drops Italo House EP ‘Listen To My Voice’ on Impakto Records
The four-track record layers steady 90s drum patterns and robotic vocoder vocals over a pulse-pounding italo/valencia mix of basslines and synths.
Cairo-born producer and DJ Ahmed Saharty, aka Saharty, recently released his first signed release ‘Listen To My Voice’ EP on Impakto Records, the strictly-vinyl sublabel of Madrid-based independent record label Unusual Systems and distributed by Lirica Archives.
With nearly a decade of experience both behind the decks and in the studio, Saharty has had his fair share of working dance floors across Egypt. On his ‘Listen To My Voice’ EP, the Egyptian producer further expands his sonic palette beyond the lo-fi house that appeared in his earlier sets, demonstrating his affinity for traversing many subgenres of electronic dance music.
With four tracks, the record is a colourful italo house that is at its most danceable, carried out by steady 80s drum patterns, uplifting synths that loop into funky basslines intersected with robotic vocoder vocals. While squelchy acidic noises and electro hints appear on tracks like ‘Tokyo’ and ‘Chapter 3’, there still remains the retro italo-esque intent of the record, combining the best of the new and old-school club sounds in a way that feels both nostalgic and refreshing.
