Fuel Prices in Egypt Just Jumped by EGP 2 Effective Immediately

The Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products has officially announced an increase in several petroleum product prices, including gasoline, diesel, butane, and kerosene, starting April 11th, 2025.

Diesel has risen from EGP 13.75 to 15.75 per liter, and kerosene from EGP 13.50 to 15.50. Mazut for industries has increased from EGP 9,500 to 10,500 per ton. Household LPG cylinders now cost EGP 200 (up from 150), and commercial cylinders are priced at EGP 400 (up from 300). Bulk gas has risen from EGP 12,000 to 16,000 per ton, and gas for brick kilns has increased from EGP 190 to 210 per million BTUs. Fuel prices for electricity, food industries, and vehicles remain unchanged.

These adjustments will remain in effect for three months, after which the committee will review prices quarterly.

This move is part of the government's ongoing plan to eliminate subsidies on petroleum products by the end of 2025. However, certain products, such as diesel and butane cylinders, will continue to be subsidized to support low-income groups.
