Trademark Registrations in Egypt Sees Record Growth in 2024
CAPMAS recorded 42,538 applications for trademarks, with 33,703 of them submitted by Egyptian nationals.

Recent official figures showed a 42.8% rise in the number of trademarks awarded in Egypt in 2024. Data from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) recorded 42,538 applications for trademarks, with 33,703 of them submitted by Egyptian nationals. Egyptians accounted for 80.3% of all trademarks awarded, followed by applicants from the United States at 6.3% and the United Arab Emirates at 2.2%. The rise extended to patents as well. The Egyptian Patent Office received 1,860 applications last year, with Egyptians making up 31.5% of the submissions and foreigners accounting for the rest. Out of 266 patents granted, 65 went to Egyptians, 41 to Americans, and 22 to Japanese applicants. Humanitarian needs, chemistry, and metals were among the top fields for patents awarded according to international classifications. The increase in trademark and patent activity comes as Egypt pushes for new investment in key sectors like the automotive industry. The country has been encouraging intellectual property growth alongside larger economic reforms, including its recent agreement with the International Monetary Fund and moves to attract foreign direct investment from the UAE and Qatar.
